Certificate Program for Individuals-2009
Can I still apply for CPI even though the deadline has passed?
No. The Center is not accepting any more applications for the June 2009 Certificate Program for Individuals.
When is CPI held?
The 2009 Certificate Program for Individuals will be held Friday, June 12, 2009 through Thursday, June 18, 2009.
Where will CPI be located?
The 2009 Certificate Program for Individuals will be held in the Georgetown area of Washington, D.C. More information will be provided to those applicants accepted into the program.
How do I apply and where can I find a copy of the application?

Applications are due no later than 5p.m. EST on March 2, 2009.For more information, please read the application.
Who is the CPI designed for?
The 2009 Certificate Program for Individuals is designed for public agency leaders at the state, local and tribal levels within the juvenile justice, child welfare and related system of care who are interested in and committed to cross systems efforts. Directors and senior staff from juvenile probation and corrections, child welfare, education, substance abuse and mental health agencies; family court judges; prosecutors or public defenders; as well as political leaders or senior staff from county commissions, city councils and state legislatures, would benefit from this program and are encouraged to apply.
This program is NOT for students and non-profit organizations. However, staff from non-profit agencies that perform government functions are welcome to apply.
Will CEUs and CLEs be awarded?
No.
What is the tuition associated with CPI and when is it due?
The cost per applicant is $4,000. However, as a result of the generous support of Casey Family Programs and The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the tuition has been reduced to $2,000. Tuition must be paid in full prior to the start of the program. Those applicants accepted will receive additional information.
Participants will also be responsible for the cost of travel to and from the program.

Will CJJR be securing a room block for participants?
Yes, CJJR has secured a special rooming block rate at a nearby hotel for participants accepted to the June 2009 program. More information will be provided on the location, once the individual has been selected. However, the rate secured is $129 per night.
Who are the faculty?
The faculty are currently being confirmed for the 2009 Certificate Program for Individuals. However, for a copy of the 2008 Certificate Program for Individuals, please click on the "Certificate Faculty" link in the right hand column of this web page.
Is this an online course?
No. At this time, the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform is not providing online courses for this program. All attendees must be present at the time of instruction.
How many applicants will be accepted?

How many a
pplicants are currently enrolled in the Certificate Program for Individuals?
The deadline for submitting applications to attend the program is March 2, 2009. No one will be enrolled until after that deadline.
Can a jurisdiction send in more than one application for the Certificate Program for Individuals?
Yes, we encourage all those interested to apply. All applications will be reviewed on an individual basis.
Can a jurisdiction submit applications for the individual program and the certificate program for teams?
Yes
It shows the dates and hours for the program as June 12-18, 2009 from 8a.m.-5p.m. Does this class run through the weekend (13-14) or would we have the weekend off?
The Certificate Program for Individuals will be held each day from June 12-18, 2009, commencing on June 12th in the evening and from June 13-18 from 8a.m.-5p.m. The Certificate Program includes the weekend days and the participants would be required to participate over the weekend. Our intention is to minimize the number of work days agency leaders are required to be away from their offices and agencies.
Are there two different applications for the Certificate Program for Individuals and the Certificate Program for Teams/Breakthrough Series Collaborative?

No. The Certificate Program for Individuals is offered in Washington, D.C.
Is there a certain number of years of experience required?
There is no minimum requirement for years of experience of education.
