In June, CJJR hosted the first Crossover Youth Practice Model (CYPM) Champions Certificate Program in New York City. The program brought together 57 cross-system leaders from New York City for a week-long training at the CUNY Graduate Center in midtown Manhattan.
Participants experienced in-depth modules on building a multi-system approach, trauma-informed practice, education, family and youth engagement, and protocols and case practice specific to New York City’s implementation of the CYPM. The program also featured panels of current and former systems-involved youth, agency leaders, and practitioners who discussed their specific experience with the CYPM through an interactive conversation.
Each of these leaders will become a Fellow of CJJR, and will use the knowledge and skills gained through the training to serve as a champion for the CYPM work and continue to improve outcomes for crossover youth in New York City.
