Last month, CJJR Director Shay Bilchik and Deputy Director for Multi-Systems Programs, Macon Stewart presented at the 2018 National CASA/GAL conference held March 10-13, 2018 in Boston, Massachusetts. More than 1,200 people gathered at the conference to celebrate the mission and impact of nearly 1,000 court appointed special advocate (CASA) and guardian ad litem (GAL) programs across the country. Shay served on a panel titled, “Understanding and Interrupting the Child Welfare to Prison Pipeline” and was joined on the panel by Linda Spears, Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families; Joshua Dohan, Director of Youth Advocacy Division Committee for Public Counsel and the Honorable Kerry Ahern, Juvenile Court Judge in Essex County. He also conducted a breakout session on a research-based approach to working with crossover youth.
