Pre-Work Instructions
The faculty is looking forward to meeting and working with you throughout the program. In preparation, the faculty has assembled pre-work assignments. These assignments and readings are aimed at providing you and in some cases, the faculty, with advanced information in preparation for the program.
Capstone Information and Results Accountability Pre-Work:
- Please read the Capstone Guidelines and submit a brief Capstone Idea Summary by June 10, 2009 to Sara Hunter at sarahunter8@gmail.com.
- Please read the Capstone Project Development Results Accountability Guide by June 13, 2009.
- Please review the Results Accountability Framework by June 13, 2009.
Multi-Systems Approach Session(s) Pre-Work:
- Please e-mail Sara Hunter at sarahunter8@gmail.com by June 10, 2009, if you have a high level of knowledge regarding Medicaid. We are working on pairing you into groups for a session and would like this information ahead of time.
- Please read the following case study by the first day of class, June 13, 2009: The Systematic Mistreatment of Children in the Foster Care System: Through the Cracks by Lois A. Weinberg, 2007.

- Please review (do not read in depth) the following paper by June 15, 2009: Evidence-Based Public Policy Options to Reduce Future Prison Construction, Criminal Justice Costs and Crime Rates by Washington State Institute for Public Policy, October 2006.

- Please fill out the Pre-Training Questionnaire and return it to Ms. Christine Jahnke, faculty for the session, at poscom@rcn.com by June 15, 2009.
Disproportionality Session Pre-Work:
- Please read the following compendium by June 16, 2009: Racial and Ethnic Disparity and Disproportionality in Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice: A Compendium, January 2007. Please pay special attention to the Chapin Hall paper and the Policy Reforms paper by Shay Bilchik.
- Please read the following paper by June 16, 2009: Adoration of the question: Reflections on the failure to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in the juvenile justice system by Bell, J. and Ridolfi, L. San Francisco: W. Haywood Burns Institute, 2008.
- Please read the following paper by June 16, 2009: Synthesis of research on disproportionality in child welfare: An update. Casey - CSSP Alliance for Racial Equity in the Child Welfare System, by R. Hill, 2006.
Leadership Session Pre-Work:
