Janet Reno Forums
The forums convene leadership experts, policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and advocates to discuss promising practices, new research, and policy reform proposals in the realms of juvenile justice, child welfare, and child and youth development. Each forum will be preceded by the development of a white paper, commissioned for the forum and developed by experts in the field. The paper will be presented at the forum to help frame the discussion.

Important Note:
In light of current events, we want to inform you that we have decided to postpone several of our programs, including this year’s Janet Reno Forum. While disappointing, we believe this is the best course of action given public health considerations. All those who registered for the Janet Reno Forum will receive a full refund.
Check back to this page for more updates as they become available, including when registration will resume.
Conference Information:
Join us at Georgetown University as we at CJJR celebrate and reflect upon 10 years of our Crossover Youth Practice Model. Sponsored by Casey Family Programs, we’ll be hosting two days of speakers, panels, and breakout discussions focused on multi-system approaches to partnering with children and families. The goal of each session will be to leave you with actionable knowledge you can apply immediately in your community.
Topics include:
- Framing the prevention continuum
- Efforts to reduce racial and ethnic disparities
- The impact of the Family First Prevention Services Act on addressing the needs of dual-system youth
- Key opportunities for delinquency prevention
- Building effective cross-system collaboration
- Meeting the needs of different populations of crossover youth, such as LGBTQ youth, youth of color (including addressing their overrepresentation and disparate treatment), and commercially sexually exploited children
- Applying research to practice to improve the well-being of crossover youth and their families
- An informal, courageous conversation between system workers and youth
We’ll also honor this year’s Janet Reno Endowment Women’s Leadership Award recipient.
