On May 2, 2017, CJJR took part in a press conference hosted by the Foellinger Foundation to announce a multi-year grant to “Great KIDS make Great COMMUNITIES,” an initiative led by the Allen County Superior Court, Family Relations Division in Indiana.
For almost 20 years, Great KIDS has served a critical role in training youth-serving professionals in the Fort Wayne-Allen County region. With this $500,000 grant, Great KIDS will be able to continue its efforts and expand its capacity to serve local youth and professionals.
The grant will fund the establishment of a new Youth and Family Development Academy designed to train leaders from local youth-serving agencies on sound policies and practices that help achieve better outcomes for children, youth and families. The grant will also support the development of a lecture series to continue educating the broader community on topics impacting at-risk youth. This series will be augmented by intensive applied learning workshops.
CJJR will work with Great Kids to develop the Academy’s curriculum and support the initiative’s efforts to foster leadership in the region.
