As we head into December and the holiday season, we are taking a moment to reflect on all of the amazing opportunities we’ve had over the past few months to engage with so many of you in-person!
Unveiling Equity: Addressing Persistent Racial/Ethnic Disparities in Probation
Our Deputy Director for Equity and Racial Justice, Dr. chris bijoux, presented at the State of Arizona’s 2024 Statewide Probation Conference. His two-part workshop “Unveiling Equity: Addressing Persistent Racial/Ethnic Disparities in Probation” explored how we can unravel and address the persistent racial and ethnic disparities within probation systems, including deepening participants’ understanding of the contributing factors behind these disparities, and fostering a comprehensive approach to dismantling systemic inequities.
Previous to the Statewide Conference, he also provided the Keynote Address at the 2023 Awards in Excellence for Probation Workers. In his keynote, “Beyond Boundaries: Collaborative Solutions in Challenging Times,” emphasized the vital role probation officers play in supporting communities and families amidst challenging times. The keynote explored the unique pressures faced by those in the profession and the importance of unity and collaboration despite potential ideological differences.
At the Intersection of Child Maltreatment and Delinquency: Advancing Timely Identification and Collaborative Intervention for Youth Served both by Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice
Our Senior Deputy Director, Macon Stewart, had the opportunity to present at the National Institute of Justice conference in Pittsburgh in September. Her presentation, “At the Intersection of Child Maltreatment and Delinquency: Advancing Timely Identification and Collaborative Intervention for Youth Served both by Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice,” dove into research and practices that underline the need for collaboration and early intervention for dual system youth.

An Overview and Panel Discussion of the Implementation of the Multi-Systems Integration Pilot Program in Delaware County Pennsylvania
Next, CJJR’s Founder and Director Emeritus, Shay Bilchik, presented at the Juvenile Court Judge’s Commission Annual James E. Anderson Pennsylvania Conference on Juvenile Justice in November. His session, “An Overview and Panel Discussion of the Implementation of the Multi-Systems Integration Pilot Program in Delaware County, Pennsylvania,” dove into the multi-systems work being implemented in Delaware County.
