We are so pleased to help share the word about the national release of “Seeing RED: Changing the Narrative.”
Produced by the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) Massachusetts, this critical documentary follows up on the original “Seeing RED ” film and spotlights the lived experience of youth and families, in their own words, telling their own stories. Narrated by CJJR’s Deputy Director for Equity and Racial Justice dr. chris bijoux, the film explores the unsettling reality that our youth legal systems impact youth of color more often and more harshly than their white counterparts.
The documentary underscores how the trauma and consequences of these impacts with the legal system often become chronic and generational, following these kids and their families for their entire lives. Finally, crucially, it spotlights how some impacted youth and families have been able to transform righteous anger into a constructive manifestation of rage by becoming a source of advocacy and representation.
The film is a moving testament to the critical importance of listening and authentically engaging with impacted youth and families, and a powerful call to action. Experience it below.
