Don’t hesitate to reach out to Amber Farn , our Deputy Director of Certificate Programs with any questions, or just to let us know that you are thinking of applying! Below, you can find a session spotlight for that program, to give folks a glimpse of the kind of work participants will engage with.
Understanding and Building Trauma-Responsive Practices
Crossover youth have often experienced significant trauma stemming from abuse, neglect, and system involvement, which can have adverse effects on their development and long-term outcomes. Without trauma-responsive policies and practices, these youth may face further harm and disconnection from the support systems meant to help them.
Facilitated by trauma expert Dr. Tracey Fehrenbach from Northwestern University, the “Understanding and Building Trauma-Responsive Practices” session in the Reducing Crossover by Advancing Collaboration Certificate Program will explore the profound impact of trauma on crossover youth, providing strategies for creating trauma-informed policies and practices across youth-serving systems. Participants will gain insights into how trauma manifests in youth behavior, ways to implement trauma-sensitive policies, and approaches to fostering environments that promote healing and resilience.
